Questa è stata veramente una delle attese più lunghe ed ora vi spiego il perchè.

Il catalogo di Birds in Art, mostra annuale che si tiene presso il Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum a Wausau in Wisconsin centrale a cui ho il grande onore di poter partecipare, è uno dei cataloghi più belli e piacevoli da sfogliare per la qualità delle opere pubblicate e per il suo confezionamento.

Il pacco contenente i cataloghi mi è stato erroneamente inviato all' indirizzo del mio vecchio studio di Vinovo e per di più non è stato lasciato nessun avviso nella buca delle lettere. Per mia grandissima fortuna però sono stata contattata su Facebook da una certa signora Adriana che lavora alle poste di Vinovo, la quale mi diceva che era arrivato un pacco per me dagli Stati Uniti e che se non fossi passata a ritirarlo sarebbe tornato indietro. Gentilmente Adriana si è offerta di spedirmelo al mio nuovo indirizzo di Milano, poichè mi veniva difficile andarlo a recuperare di persona. Così finalmente inizia la grande attesa, ma il pacco continuava a non arrivare. Abbiamo poi scoperto che l'efficientissima ditta SDA a causa di uno sciopero, non si è neanche impegnata di recapitarmi il pacco scrivendo che l'indirizzo era sbagliato e che quindi sarebbe ritornato al mittente, cioè la signora Adriana. Il pacco è tornato infine alle poste di Vinovo e ho fatto prima ad andarmelo a recuperare di persona!

E così, finalmente, eccomi qui a scrivere questo post.

This was truly one of the longest waits and now I'll explain why. Birds in Art catalog, an annual exhibition held at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Central Wisconsin, to which I have the great honor to be able to participate, is one of the most beautiful and pleasant catalog for the quality of published works and for its packaging.

The package containing the catalogs has been mistakenly sent to my old studio Vinovo address and moreover was not left any notice in the mailbox. But to my great good fortune I have been contacted on Facebook by a Mrs. Adriana who works at Vinovo's post office. She told me it was a package for me from the United States, and that if I had not gone to pick it would be right back.

Adriana kindly has offered herself to send me the pack to my new address in Milan, as it was difficult to me to go to recover it in person. So finally it begins the great waiting, but the package still did not arrive. Later we discovered that the highly efficient company SDA, because of a strike, did not even committed to deliver me the package, writing that the address was wrong, and then it would return to the sender, Mrs. Adriana. The package is finally returned to the Vinovo's post office and I went to retrieve it by myself!

Finally, I am here writing this post.

Above us only sky, matita su carta, 90x40 cm

In Tanzania nel mese di agosto 2015, mi sono immersa nella lussureggiante, verde foresta del parco nazionale di Arusha. Avevo visto i buceri dalle guance argentate in Malawi, ma il ricordo era ormai sbiadito; incontrarne nuovamente un gruppo tra gli alberi ha portato ancora una volta dell' entusiasmo. La testa dell' uccello protesa in un cielo infinito e un ramo che si estende verso l'alto, mi ha fatto pensare subito ad una delle mie citazioni preferite: 'Above us only sky', da 'Imagine' di John Lennon. Sono affezionata a questa frase - per motivi che non vi dirò - tanto da averla tatuata sul mio braccio destro. Credo che mi abbia portato fortuna e mi ha permesso di tornare a Birds in Art. Evviva i buceri!

Above us only sky, pencil on paper, 90x40 cmIn Tanzania in August 2015, I immersed myself in the lush, green forest of Arusha National Park. I saw silvery-cheeked hornbills in Malawi, but my memory faded; to meet them again in a group among trees brought newfound excitement. With one bird's head thrust into endless sky and a branch stretching upward, I thought immediately of a favorite quote: 'Above us only sky', from John Lennon's 'Imagine'. I'm attached to this phrase - for reason I will not tell - and even have tattooed on my right arm. I think it's brought me luck and allowed me to return to Birds in Art.I'm thankful for the hornbills!
